JUNIOR PARTICIPATION IN ADULT COMPETITIONS

JUNIOR PARTICIPATION IN ADULT COMPETITIONS

The following information forms part of the Health & Safety Policy of Falkirk Tryst Golf Club under the section relating to Child Protection (PVG). Responsibility for the control of this document rests with the Managing Secretary.

Places can only be booked on the day of play through the Professional’s Shop.

Junior members may not participate in weekend adult competitions, as these coincide with the Club’s Junior Medal competitions.

Entry into adult competitions, being competitions beyond the maximum age of junior membership, is by invitation only and is regarded as a privilege. Invitations will only be granted with the approval of the relevant Match Secretaries and Junior Conveners (or their nominated representatives) and, where appropriate, with parental or guardian consent.

Invitations are issued on a competition-by-competition basis and must be renewed before each event. Where an invitation is not renewed, the junior member will, upon request, be advised of the reason for the Club’s decision.

The Club encourages junior golfers who have attained a Handicap Index of 9.0 or below, and who demonstrate the appropriate standard of golfing ability, etiquette, pace of play and maturity, to participate in adult competitions.

Juniors granted access to adult competitions are expected to maintain regular participation in Junior Club competitions wherever reasonably possible. This helps maintain a vibrant Junior Section, encourages younger members through positive role models, and supports the continued development of junior golf within the Club.

Junior members participating in adult competitions must play in the company of two adults. Where a match would normally comprise one adult and one junior, the junior member must arrange for a match observer to accompany the group. The exception to this requirement is where the accompanying adult is a parent, guardian or other family member.

Juniors participating in adult competitions are bound by the Rules of Golf and must not receive coaching or advice from match observers or fellow competitors during the round.

Junior members participating in adult competitions must record their age on their scorecard.
